June Solstice K9 Horoscope 6.21-9.23.'10

Woof StarGazers,
Observed as the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and believed, by the ancients, to be a time when the sun (sol) actually stands still (sistere) while at its highest point in the noon sky on one day each year falling between June 21st & 24th. Appearances can be deceiving (Old Sol never stands still) yet our forebearers seldom missed an opportunity to hold a ritual, feast or celebration (we haven’t changed much, have we?) and this event would certainly be no exception.
Traditionally ritual fires were built in fields, honorable men would then demonstrate their courage by jumping over the flames and the remaining ashes would be spread over garden areas to assure healthy crops. Celts paid tribute to their Goddess Aine, the equivalent of the Roman Goddess Venus and the Greek Goddess Aphrodite, beseeching her favors to provide bountiful fall crops. In Ireland paying tribute to the Goddess Queen of Muster eventually (mid 19th century) gave way to Christianized fire rituals marking the eve of St John’s Feast Day. Legend has it that John’s mother, Elizabeth, lit a signal fire announcing that she had gone into labor and that all helping hands would be welcomed.
Several northern European countries recognize the June Solstice as a legal holiday and Midsummer Fire Festivals are celebrated throughout the world; from the small Fremont, WA community parade of nude cyclist to the week long Kupala Rites celebrated in Russia. Blending fire and water rituals young Russian ladies place small boats in waterways and attempt to interpret flow patterns which might reveal the names of their intended.
The solstice phenomenon marks the longest day/shortest night of the year and is commonly, and correctly, referred to as both the Start of Summer and/or Midsummer.
There are 2 celestial events worth mentioning during the coming cycle; the 1st Lunar and the 2nd Solar eclipses of 2010 will occur on June 26th, and July 11th, respectively. The Partial Lunar Eclipse will best be seen from the Pacific Islands and Eastern Australia but can be viewed from most of the Americas. Only those living in New England area and Eastern Canada will be denied any view of this event; so look upwards every pup!! The Solar Eclipse won’t be visible in North America, unfortunately; only those in the South Pacific or western South America will be entertained by this pawsome July event.

Aries; The Ram 3.21-4.19
Helios tempts your Arian blood but until Sol’s strength subsides, closer to the September Equinox, decisions should not be made impulsively. Apollo is always an aggressive risk taker adding excitement to all ventures; be particularly careful this coming cycle.

Taurus; The Bull 4.20-5.20
Patience may wear thin and stubbornness may add to your woes. Try to accept things as they are and lend a paw in ‘furendship,’ to those who you have previously ignored. Days are long, opportunities abound.

Gemini; The Twins 5.21-6.21
Mercury is in his element and communicating has never been easier. Take advantage of this renewed spirit and show others that you appreciate their hard work and efforts. Challenges should not be ignored.

Cancer; The Crab 6.22-7.22
Making good decisions won’t be easy as emotions are at an all time high for the next several months. Concerns abound when your defensive nature takes hold causing havoc w/loved ones. Goals appear to be unreachable, however, perseverance does pay off.

Leo; The Lion 7.23-8.22
The Lion’s roar increases your optimism and trying times fall by the wayside. This is not a time for day dreaming, actions speak louder than words and when a ‘furend,’ falls on hard times don’t turn your back to them.

Virgo; The Virgin 8.23-9.22
The Virgin’s eye for detail makes the search easier when looking for those in harm’s way. This is a time to bring harmony into the home so that a new family member gets started on the right path.

Libra; The Scales 9.23-10.22
Now is not the time to misspeak or make critical comments. Set your priorities and work at balancing your temperament; challenges may become much easier.

Scorpio; The Scorpion 10.23-11.21
Celestial influences do their best to distract you from honorable goals during these trying months. Staying focused has never been harder but the impact may be overcome by joining forces w/others and drawing on Sol‘s power.

Sagittarius; The Centaur 11.22-12.21
Perhaps keeping barks to yourself would be good advice at this time. Being outspoken may not be appreciated and others may look upon your straight forward attitude as criticism gone awry.

Capricorn; The Sea-Goat 12.22-1.19
Resources abound in the Universe if one knows where to look so don’t allow your determination to falter. Your faithfulness can not be questioned; you’ve shown your loyalty on several occasions already.

Aquarius; The Water-Bearer 1.20-2.18
Putting a harness on a free spirit may not always be a wise choice. To deny your independence may put you at odds w/family members so try not to hurt others w/your biting remarks. When Selena is near your ability to nurture others is calming to all.

Pisces; The Fish 2.19-3.20
Now’s the time to turn on the charm and let others see you at your finest. Imagination, creativity and charisma are all heightened while Helios rides high. Take every advantage and others will take notice.

12.21.'09-1.19.'10

Woof StarGazers,

The Winter Solstice ushers Apollo into the Sea-Goat’s home while we’re all held firmly in an icy grip for this (in the Northern Hemisphere) is our longest nite of the Solar Year. Capricorn rules over a Blue Full Moon, a Partial Lunar Eclipse, an Annular Solar Eclipse, Saturn going Retrograde and Mercury as it goes Direct; all of this and the close of the first decade of the 21st Century too. That’s one over-flowing Cosmic Platter, if you ask me!!

Aries; The Ram 3.21-4.19
To our South the Taskmaster may exert limits on Pintus by putting a crimp on over-zealous holiday feasting. All things in moderation would be a good rule for those impulsive Arians to follow during these upcoming holidays.

Taurus; The Bull 4.20-5.20
This is a time for sharing as Wishbone demonstrates near the 27th, when Diana enters the Bull’s Pen. His pack and Tar Heel neighbors respond in kind for the benefit of all.

Gemini; The Twins 5.21-6.21
Heavy snowfall makes Maine a Winter Wonderland during the last week of this decade but the silence is broken when Daisy and Frankie vocalize their feline feelings when the Moon waxes to its fullness.

Cancer; The Crab 6.22-7.22
A blanket of stillness covers our Mother State on New Year’s Eve and Smores may bay loudly at the overhead spectacle of the Full Moon. All Cancer ruled may be over-come by nostalgia and compensate with over generosity. Be cautious, don’t give more than is reasonable.

Leo; The Lion 7.23-8.22
When the Huntress enters the Lion’s Den, right after the holidays, the North Carolina home of our Great Dane ’furend,’ Max begins the New Year with a renewed commitment to assist the most helpless among us.

Virgo; The Virgin 8.23-9.22
Fulfilling a goal is paramount to Yorkie Zoey as she leads her pack in early January. Guilt can be over-whelming to all Virgo born when Luna visits with Isis.

Libra; The Scales 9.23-10.22
Warm breezes wash over Australia as Luna enters Libra and Gunda may let others know that they should follow her lead. Learning when to let go is an uphill battle for all who are born in the shadow of this Constellation.

Scorpio; The Scorpion 10.23-11.21
Activities abound in the Hoosier State around the 9th, and Tupper may sound an alarm. The Scorpion should be vigilant but not entertain paranoia when facing an unusual situation.

Sagittarius; The Centaur 11.22-12.21
Celebrations are over in the Bay State on the 11th, as the Centaur welcomes Selena and Molly gets a bit pushy with her brother. At ease, all Sagittarians!! Your need to be in charge is only fleeting.

Capricorn; The Sea-Goat 12.22-1.19
Venus and Diana join Apollo at the Sea-Goat’s table as Luna darkens. Godiva may show her resourcefulness near the 13th, and bring harmony back into the home. Relationships are fragile at this time for all of the Sea-Goat’s subjects.

Aquarius; The Water-Bearer 1.20-2.18
The darkness of the African Continent, under a Solar Eclipse on the 15th, is no match for the burden which surrounds the Florida home of Ladybug. Her inability to show improvement during an extended illness is taking its toll on the family. Aquarians may find that they doubt their own abilities and resourcefulness at this time.

Pisces; The Fish 2.19-3.20
The end of the holiday season sees the family business slow down a bit much to the joy of Oso Rios who now has some free moments to explore, roam and savor those things which bring satisfaction to his Lab senses as well as to all Pisceans.

Please feel free to share my thoughts with others, however, reprinting for anything other than personal amusement should only be done with my consent.

Bow-wow and a Happy Barkday to all of my Capricorn born ‘furends‘!!

7.22.'9-8.23.'9

Woof StarGazers,

We're all in for a double celestial whammy as we experience a Total Solar Eclipse this week followed closely by a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse as Leo begins his rule. It seems fitting that Leo's ruling planet, Helios himself, should hide behind Luna's shadow during this century's longest Solar Eclipse on July 21, just as the Lion King is looking forward to accepting his mantle of rulership. But how, you ask, will these celstial events impact our lives? To know the unknown is an ever ongoing quest so join me as I look to our Cosmic Wheel for a peek at how our creativity may be challenged in the coming days!

Aries; The Ram 3.21-4.19
Impulsiveness should be held in check for Diana's influence on Aug. 9, may well create a situation which pawrents may admonish you for. No, Chewy the peeps are not going to believe that Hayley brought all of that mud into the house by herself.

Taurus; The Bull 4.20-5.20
Just as a bullodg's tenacious hold makes its mark so will your actions and they won't be forgotten anytime soon. Be especially vigilant on or around the 13th! Perhaps, Benjamin, a truth will be revealed; what you consider mythos may indeed be logos.

Gemini; The Twins 5.21-6.21
Communication skills excel under Sol's watchful eye during this period and near the 14th an intriging scenario may take center stage. Challlenges, that some may not be able to ignore, could surface thru Tien's writings.

Cancer; The Crab 6.22-7.22
Your defensive nature may reach new heights mid-August causing concerns but don't worry, your emotions settle down quickly. Taz will be of a forgiving nature, Einstein, so no damage will be done but care should be taken.

Leo; The Lion 7.23-8.22
The Solar Eclipse of July 21, does nothing to diminish your optimism which goes a long way in getting you through some trying times. On the other hand large, loving puppy eyes are a big help too. Don't forget this technique when a furendship needs repairing. Mom can't resist them either, Matilda, just don't push too many of her buttons.

Virgo; The Virgin 8.23-9.22
Always looking for a win, your obsession may take a wrong turn this month putting you in harms way. The Aug. 20, New Moon may be advantageous for your plans but we should still be considerate of other's feelings. Your fellow Yorkies, Zoey, will be appreciative of your furendship.

Libra; The Scales 9.23-10.22
Your devotion to others seems to be ignored during this cycle giving you time to reflex on your relationshsips. When the Moon is in your sign on the 26th your sensitivity will be exemplified. It would be best if you just turn a blind eye towards any upsetting situations. Chappy; 12 & Whiskey truly mean no harm.

Scorpio; The Scorpion 10.23-11.21
Try to stay focused!! It won't be easy as celestial influences tug at you relentlessly. You are able to overcome their impact, however, by joining forces with others. Chasing tree bunnies with a buddy almost guarantees success; I think Nipper and Coco would agree!!

Sagittarius; The Centaur 11.22-12.21
Others appreciate your honesty and often ask for your opinion but try not to be so outspoken. Look for something new to do towards the end of the month. Re-arranging Mom's flower bulbs in the garden is often not appreciated; and no, Missydog, Foxy did not suggest that as something new to do.

Capricorn; The Sea-Goat 12.22-1.19
Your resourcefulness and determination falter early in August and you may want to have furends and family nearby. We are never alone; the Universe offers resources to those who know where to find them. "As above, so below!" This is a time to cross paws for our furend Fonzie as the family is walking on one of life's rough patches right now.

Aquarius; The Water-Bearer 1.20-2.18
Keeping a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye won't be hard to do while the Lion roars. Your emotions fall like the tide in early August but you, Copernicus and other Aquarian born, bounce back quickly. A long run along the surf's edge would be a perfect way to end a day.

Pisces; The Fish 2.19-3.20
If we thought that you had creative abilities we probably haven't seen anything just yet because Apollo's presences gives you a jump start that sees no end during this Zodiac Cycle. No, Hannah - not that! Down, girl.
